Sharon Isbin premiered Aaron Jay Kernis' double concerto with violinist Nadja Salerno-Sonnenburg at Lincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall in April. It is the eighth concerto commissioned for and premiered by Isbin (see "American Tunes," March 1996).
Guitar makers George Majkowski and Boaz Elkayam will construct ten replicas of the last Kasha-designed, nylon-string guitar by the late luthier Richard Schneider (see Jump Street, May). The instruments will be sold for $8,500, 5 percent of which will be donated to the Lost Mountain Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the advancement of the classical guitar. Archtop guitarist and crooner John Pizzarelli (see "They Got Rhythm," August 1996) has recorded Our Love Is Here to Stay, a tribute to swing music that includes arrangements featuring the John Pizzarelli Trio as well as big-band versions of everything from Beatles tunes to swing standards.
Ani DiFranco's latest release on her self-owned Righteous Babe label--her tenth solo album since 1990--is a live double-CD called Living in Clip, recorded during her spring and fall 1996 tours.
Ashley Mark Publishing has released the fourth edition of The Classical Guitar: Its Evolution, Players, and Personalities since 1800, by Maurice Summerfield (distributed in the U.S. by Hal Leonard). The updated version contains hundreds of new photographs and almost 100 new biographical entries.

Archtop luthier Arthur Crow died January 26 of a heart attack in Longmont, Colorado, at the age of 68. He was self- taught and had been building for about five years. Crow is survived by his wife of 50 years, Anne, four sons, two daughters, ten grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
