James Taylor has been chosen to receive Billboard's 1998 Century Award, the magazine's highest honor for distinguished creative achievement.
Winners at the Association for Independent Music Awards held in Denver, Colorado, May 16, included Martin Simpson, Solas, Richard Shindell, Don Edwards, Oregon, Dan Crary, Ani DiFranco, Trout Fishing in America, James McMurtry, and Corey Harris. Harris' latest CD, Fish Ain't Bitin', also won the 1998 W.C. Handy award (presented by the Blues Foundation, April 30, in Memphis, Tennessee) for Acoustic Blues Album of the Year.
