The Gamble Rogers Folk Festival will invade the Gamble Rogers Middle School in St. Augustine, Florida, April 30–May 2. Related projects scheduled for release in 1999 include a CD by Ibrahim Ferrer produced by Ry Cooder for World Circuit, a second solo album by Gonzales on World Circuit, and a documentary feature film by Wim Wenders.

Masaru Kohno, founder and former president of the Gendai Guitar Co. and president of Kohno Guitar Manufacturing, passed away on December 13 in Tokyo, Japan, at the age of 72.
