Emmylou Harris inaugurated a series of all-star concerts in support of the Campaign for a Landmine Free World last December. Collaborators included Mary Chapin Carpenter, Nanci Griffith, Steve Earle, Guy Clark, Bruce Cockburn, and Willie Nelson.

David Crosby has been contributing more than musical inspiration to Melissa Etheridge and her family. Etheridge recently revealed that Crosby is the biological father of Bailey and Beckett, the children she is raising with partner Julie Cypher.

Los Angeles put late singing cowboy Gene Autry "Back in the Saddle Again" when it named a sliver of Tinseltown highway after him. The Gene Autry Memorial Interchange provides access to the Autry Museum of Western Heritage, where the late singer’s art collection resides.

Country music star Hank Snow died on December 20, 1999, at the age of 85. Nicknamed "the Singing Ranger," Snow was a mainstay on the Grand Ole Opry and topped the charts with a string of hits including "I’m Moving On" and "Fool Such as I." Snow was an accomplished guitarist who also recorded a pair of well-received instrumental albums with Chet Atkins.
