WHAT'S HAPPENING 
The New York Guitar Festival’s sixth season of concerts, January 14–February 8, 2006, will include performances by Bill Frisell, Jorma Kaukonen, Vernon Reid, Taj Mahal, Pepe Romero, Eliot Fisk, Sonny Landreth, Rory Block, Cindy Cashdollar, Daniel Lanois, Jesse Harris, David Tronzo, Brandon Ross, Gary Lucas, Alvin Youngblood Hart, Michelle Shocked, and many others. Concerts—which will include an all-day marathon focusing on the guitar’s history in Spain, plus tributes to Mississippi John Hurt, Skip James, Elizabeth Cotten, Charley Patton, and Bruce Springsteen—will be presented in Carnegie Hall’s Zankel Hall, Merkin Concert Hall, Joe’s Pub, The American Youth Hostel Concert Chapel, and a variety of other venues.
